We've just pushed a new feature out to Sharemarx. You now have an address book!
To access it, try adding someone to your project. In the popup, you should see a link to add people from your address book.
It will populate with people who get invited to projects you're on, so everyone you work with in the future should show up. No more trying to remember email addresses every time you create a new project!

Happy Holidays!
Happy Holidays from all of us here at BizMarx! Hope everyone has a fun, relaxing break from life!
Here's looking forward to happy collaborating in 2012!
Sharemarx isn't just for Word documents!
We have just pushed an update out to the Sharemarx.com site. From now on, you can add files of any type and every type to your projects!
Better yet, you can preview dozens of different files types, including most document, presentation (e.g. PowerPoint), and spreadsheet (e.g. Excel) formats. This is thanks to our new integration with the Zoho Office suite.
Don't worry, your files are still secure. They are stored encrypted on our servers. If you want to view them using Zoho, we transmit a copy over an encrypted connection to Zoho. We then provide you with a one-time-use link to view the file. If the link is used a second time, the file is wiped from Zoho's servers. Otherwise, once you're done previewing the file, the file is wiped from Zoho's servers.
We're working on something even better: letting you edit your files using Zoho, while storing them securely in a Sharemarx project. But we won't push that feature live until we've worked with Zoho to ensure that none of your files are ever transmitted via an unencrypted connection, nor stored in an unencrypted format.
Happy collaborating!

Markup Interface Is Getting Better
As promised, we're now hard at work making the markup interface bigger and better!
The first change has now been pushed live. This was one that a lot of our testers asked for. It was even the first feature recommendation posted on our forums!
You can now view multiple layers of markup in colors of your choice. This means that, if you, your friend Steve, and Steve's friend Jane are all collaborating on a document together, you can now view your markup and suggestions in blue, overlayed by Steve's in red and Jane's in green.
As an added bonus, you can see a nice thread of all of the comments you and your team have placed on the document.
These new features are available via a new and improved sidebar that will appear next to the document you're viewing. You can check them out right now at www.sharemarx.com.
As always, if you have any feedback or find any bugs, please let us know at our forums!

Our first public alpha is ready for...the public
Sharemarx.com Public Alpha:
We're pleased to announce that our first product is ready for alpha testing. You can create an account and check it out over at www.sharemarx.com.
Sharemarx is our private user / small business product, and is not specialized for legal or other industries. It is intended to give you a taste of how our framework is set up and what we have to offer.
This is an alpha product. Use it at your own risk. It won't destroy your computer or eat your dog, but it may lose a document here and there.
Current State of Sharemarx:
So what is an "alpha product" anyways? In this case, it means that the framework and project architecture is up and working, complete with security and a functional permissions system.
The document annotation features that we have on the site at the moment are demonstrations and placeholders, and we'll be making significant improvements to them over the next six weeks or so.
Our in-house testing is complete, but we're fairly certain there are still a number of bugs to be found, so don't hesitate to head over to our forums and let us know if something doesn't work like you expect it to.
We look forward to hearing any feedback you have after you explore Sharemarx.com!

Almost to the starting line
We're getting very close to having an alpha product out and available for testing. We started doing in-depth testing ourselves last weekend, and we're hoping to bring in friends and family next week.
There are a few pesky features still to be added ("User registration? Bah, I'll just add everyone manually...it's worked thus far! What's that? Oh, fine, I'll create a registration page."), and a small amount of optimization to cut down on the number of server calls being made, but other than that, we're almost there.
By the end of the month, BizMarx will finally be at the starting line. A humbling thought.
